Notes

CMI-5 Course Structure

Per Severin Neumann’s github issue, it was agreed to change the following elements in the course structure XSD to attributes:

  • courseID
  • activityID
  • objectiveID
  • masteryScore
  • moveOn
  • authenticationMethod
  • launchMethod

The rationale for doing this was it would facilitate better processing and reduce user error. Severin will update the XSD with these changes and also centralized the Objectives data elements.

Adding ID’s for Block’s was discussed, but no rationale could be found to justify it as the cmi5.xml is only used for interchange (i.e. ingestion into LMS).

CMI-5 Runtime – Verb IRI’s

The following CMI-5 verbs will use IRI’s already defined in the ADL namespace “http://www.adlnet.gov/expapi/verbs/” :

  • initialized
  • launched
  • passed
  • failed
  • suspended
  • resumed
  • terminated
  • completed

(e.g. http://www.adlnet.gov/expapi/verbs/initialized etc.)

The following CMI-5 verbs (which are currently only used in CMI-5) will use the CMI5 specific profile namespace “http://www.adlnet.gov/cmi5/verbs/”

  • abandoned
  • waived

Andy Johnson will arrange for ADL webpages to the created for these verbs.

CMI-5 Runtime – ActivityTypes IRI’s It was agreed that all IRI’s for ActivityTypes will be defined in the “http://www.adlnet.gov/cmi5” namespace

CMI-5 Runtime – All other IRI’s It was agreed that all other IRI's will be replace "http://www.aicc.org/cmi5" with the “http://www.adlnet.gov/cmi5” namespace It was also agreed that all IRI’s will be all lowercase to prevent URL/server host confusion
