Thanks Xiao/Ashley,

This works for me. I've added config file to my .ssh directories on solar & flurry.

Please close this access_help request.

Ashely had the solution for this. It is ssh settings on solar causing this.

in .ssh

cat config
ForwardX11 yes
ServerAliveInterval 300

Helpers,

BoM users vayu windows freeze after 15 min or so of inactivity. The windows remain open on the screen, but they just freeze up so the keyboard typing, return key etc don't do anything, and the only thing is to kill the window with the mouse, and start a new session.

According to Martin, this isn't the case for him logging into vayu from cherax, so I guess that means it's not a vayu/nci setting? It's not a showstopper, but it's annoying. On our Bureau machines, we essentially have unlimited logons, i.e. up until the machine is re-booted or some other outage of the login nodes occurs. This is what we'd like for our NCI sessions too, if this is possible to arrange.

Can anyone advise on what the policy is on interactive logins, what's likely to be causing our logins to be behaving this way?

Thanks, Mike
