CMIP7 DECK experiments

Within the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project, the term DECK stands for Diagnostics, Evaluation, and Characterization of Kilma. As noted in the table below, for CMIP7, the DECK experiments have been expanded to include the Historical experiments as well as three fixed pre-industrial Sea Surface Temperature experiments similar to those in CMIP6 RFMIP.

The column Anthropogenic Forcing above refers to all 7 of the following historical forcings in [1, Table 2], including some natural forcings:

Gridded monthly mean historical emission estimates by sector, and fuel for
anthropogenic aerosol and precursor compounds, and CO2, CH4 and N2O.
Open biomass burning
emissions
Gridded monthly estimates of open biomass burning emissions (forests,
grasslands, agricultural waste burning on fields, peatlands).
Land use Gridded annual estimates of the fractional land-use patterns, underlying
land-use transitions, and key agricultural management information.
Greenhouse gas historical
concentrations
Consolidated data sets of historical atmospheric (volume) mixing ratios of
43 greenhouse gases and ozone depleting substances.
Ozone concentrations TBD, expected: Gridded monthly mean 3-D ozone mixing ratios.
Nitrogen deposition TBD, expected: Gridded monthly mean 2-D nitrogen deposition flux.
Aerosol optical
properties/MACv2-SP
Anthropogenic aerosol optical properties for a number of key plumes
based on the MACv2-SP parameterization
