About the team
We are team of volunteers who look after and run the audio-visual equipment for Above Bar Church. This is primarily focused around our Sunday services but also includes other events in the church calendar, and maintaining equipment around our city centre building.
The team is composed of volunteers in a number of roles:
- Ministry Lead - Adrian - Sets the direction and tone of the team, acting as the focal point for communications between church leaders and the AV team, if there are issues with the technical aspects (broken equipment, "it's too loud", etc.) of church life this is where the buck stops.
- Tech Directors/Producers - Assist service and worship leaders and preachers to organise and prepare the AV aspects of our Sunday services, in addition to providing oversight and assistance during our live-streamed Sunday morning services.
- Audio Engineers - Handle all things audio during our services and events. From setting up microphones; running sound checks; keeping alert to who is speaking at any given momen; and generally ensuring all that takes place on our auditorium platform can be heard by the congregation
- Screen Operators (suggestions for a better name gratefully received) - Responsible for showing all visual content during our Sunday services, including sermon slides, bible passages and song lyrics.
- Camera Operators - Responsible for recording (and streaming) our Sunday services, operating and switching between our cameras and the screen content.
In addition the team is supported by some of the church staff members:
- Worship Leader - Ed - Sets the direction and vision for our Sunday services, including service structure and style of music.
- Communications Coordinator - Abby - Sets the vision and plan for church communication, including style and theming for visual content.
Ed and Abby often complete much of the mid-week visuals preparations.
