Start the bot - A7F/mtg-telegram-assistant GitHub Wiki

There are multiple ways to start the bot... Let's give a look into this.

linux

open your terminal, cd into folder mtg-telegram-assistant and write python3 main.py. Done.

...or, if you're a tmux guy, with the following command you can start the bot inside an already detached session named mtgbot:

tmux new-session -d -s mtgbot 'cd <path-to-folder>/mtg-telegram-assistant && python3 main.py'

auto start

you may want to automatically start this bot whenever you boot your machine. If you have tmux installed, you can easily do this by editing /etc/rc.local with

nano /etc/rc.local

My favourite editor is nano but feel free to use the editor you prefer. Add the following line on the beginning of that file, before the line which says exit(0):

tmux new-session -d -s mtgbot 'cd <path-to-folder>/mtg-telegram-assistant && python3 main.py'

instead of , put the path to the folder where yo cloned this repo. Save and exit once you're done.

windows

navigate to the path in which you cloned this repo, open the folder mtg-telegram-assistant then hold shift and right click on an empty space. Choose "open powershell window here", write the command python3 main.py and execute it. Done. It won't work if you didn't add python3 to PATH so pay attention!

You can also put the command to start this bot in a batch file (.bat) so you just need to double click on it. You choose!
