Installation

IF YOU ARE INSTALLING ON REAL HARDWARE: Be sure to set DIPSW 4 to ON to boot from the CD-ROM for installation. Switch DIPSW 4 to OFF when you've finished installation to boot from the flash card.

(MAME only) If you get an ERROR 121 during installation, check that you are using the latest ROM files. The old security ROM files are not compatible with MAME anymore and it's easy to find the old outdated ROM files on the internet still so that is the most likely cause of the issue. You must have ROMs compatible with MAME 0.241 or later.

Method 1

Press test button to initialize flash ROM. Press test button again when flash ROM initialization is finished to boot game.

Method 2

You will boot into "ERROR 147". Press tab and go to the "Slot Devices" section. Change the cassette from "game" to "install" then select "Reset Machine". Once you reset the machine you should boot into the proper installation.

Note: The error message says you must also set DIPSW 4 to ON, but you only need to do this if you are installing the game over a previous installation which is almost never the case in MAME. You would need to set DIPSW 4 to ON at this time if you were installing on real hardware.

Note: Depending on the game and hardware, you may see "NOTE 604" which is prompting you to update the CD-ROM drive's firmware. Press the test button to update the CD-ROM drive's firmware here. If the firmware update is successful (will display "NOTE 603") but installation does not automatically continue, press F3 to reset the machine and it should install as normal.

You will see "INFO 506" when installation is finished. When you see "INFO 506", press tab and go to the "Slot Devices" section again and change the cassette from "install" back to "game". Select "Reset Machine" once more to boot back into the game proper.

Note: If you see "NOTE 605" on boot then press the test button to clear the RTC-RAM and continue as normal. If you are running on real hardware and see this every time you boot, it means that your RTC battery is dead and needs to be replaced.

Note: If you see "INFO 500" during boot then you forgot to switch the install cart to the game cart. Press tab and go to the "Slot Devices" section again and change the cassette from "install" back to "game". Select "Reset Machine" to restart game.

Method 3

No more installation cartridge! Should automatically start installing the game upon fresh boot.

Press test button to initialize flash ROM. Press test button again after flash ROM initialization has completed.
