#gameplay Runes are passive abilities that provide players with a variety of bonuses and enhancements to their character. Unlike abilities, Runes are static and cannot be upgraded. For example, some Runes may increase the player's damage output, while others may provide additional health or mana regeneration.
The rune gameplay feature unlocks at level 15, through a quest given by an archaeologist NPC. Up to 5 Runes can be equipped at a time but the player only starts with 1 rune. Once a rune is unlocked, it can be immediately equipped and its effects will be active in-game. Examples of Runes include:
- "Rage: Increase the damage dealt by 15% when health is below 50%"
- "Regeneration: Regenerate 2% of your maximum health per second"
- "Second Wind: Gain 15% increased movement speed and 30% increased attack speed for 5s when your health drops below 25%"
- "Vampirism: Each hit has a 20% chance to restore 2% of your maximum health"
- "Bulwark": Increase your armor rating by 25% when standing still for more than 3 seconds.
- "Harvest": Killing an enemy grants you 15% of their maximum health as healing over 5 seconds.
- "Reckoning": Your critical strikes grant you a stacking damage bonus of 2% per stack, up to a maximum of 10 stacks.
- "Empowerment": Each time you use an ability, your next basic attack deals an additional 15% damage.
- "Evasive": Dodging an attack grants you increased movement speed by 30% for 3 seconds.
- "Determination": When your health falls below 30%, gain a shield equal to 20% of your maximum health for 5 seconds.
- "Predator": Killing an enemy grants you increased attack speed by 10% for 5 seconds.
- "Nimble": Your movement speed is increased by 10% and you take 15% less damage from area of effect abilities.
- "Fortitude": Each time you take damage, gain a stacking damage reduction of 2% per stack, up to a maximum of 10 stacks.
- "Rage": Each time you take damage, your next basic attack deals an additional 10% damage.
- "Endurance": Your maximum health is increased by 20%.
- "Vigilance": Each time you use an ability, your next basic attack has a 25% chance to critically strike.
- "Retribution": Each time you take damage, the next ability you use deals an additional 10% damage.
- "Aegis": Each time you take damage, gain a shield equal to 10% of the damage taken for 5 seconds.
- "Expertise": Each time you use an ability, your next basic attack deals an additional 5% damage.
- "Resilience": Each time you take damage, gain a stacking damage reduction of 1% per stack, up to a maximum of 5 stacks.
- "Punishment": Each time you take damage, the next ability you use has a 25% chance to critically strike.
- "Tenacity": Each time you take damage, gain a shield equal to 5% of the damage taken for 5 seconds.
- "Concentration": Each time you use an ability, your next basic attack has a 10% chance to critically strike.
The Runes will give a different and unique touch to the game and will make the players play through the game differently based on their choices. Runes can be unlocked by leveling up, some Runes may only be unlocked by doing a specific quest. Everytime the player levels up, the next rune in line will be unlocked until all the Runes are unlocked.
