It has two parts: a client-side library that runs in the browser, and a server-side library for node.js. Both components have an identical API.
What are real-time applications?
A real-time application (or RTA) is an app that does things that seem "instant" to the user. Examples include: instant messengers, push notifications, collaboration applications, and online gaming.
