System Architecture - 3Dpals/3Dpal GitHub Wiki

3Dpal is a website that gives the possibility to upload, share and edit 3D Models. Users can manage the rights of their objects, share them with friends and make them publicly available. Users can search their own and public models.

Below, a presentation of the architecture of the server:

Server's Architecture

The persistence of all the data is ensured by our MongoDB database.

RESTful services are implemented as back-end layer of our node.js server. Connected to the database, they deal with the models and their instances.

On top of this, the representation of the server can be split in two distinct part:

  • The website and its HTML views, using the services to generate their content. (using node's modules express and ejs)
  • The REST API, offering a external access to the services. This API is used by the website itself to dynamically retrieve or push data (Ajax requests), but can also be used by other applications.
