During a meteorite impact everything in a radius of about 50 around the impact point, except for obsidian and Bedrock, is completely destroyed.
Outside this radius and up to 150 blocks, all kinds of flammable blocks can catch fire.
Unless living creatures were directly connected to the impact point and protected by blocks, they suffer almost no damage.
