Big List of Web Resources
OpenGL
learnopengl.com - Website that walks through OpenGL programming in C++, using GLFW and Glad. Probably the most valuable learning resource for constructing a rendering engine. Covers display creation, starting triangle, shaders, textures, transforms, coordinate systems, camera, lighting and materials, model loading with Assimp, and more.
OpenGL 3D Game Tutorials by ThinMatrix - Video series teaching the production of an OpenGL graphics engine using the Lightweight Java Game Library (LWJGL) in Java. Covers display creation, GLSL shaders, matrices and spaces, OBJ and Collada DAE model importing, lighting, transparency, 3rd person camera, skyboxes, and more.
OpenGL by TheCherno - Video series explaining what OpenGL is and how it works. Examples written in C++ using Visual Studio.
OpenGL 4 Reference Pages - Documentation for the functions and values of the OpenGL specification.
GLFW
GLFW Documentation - Includes a compile guide, intro tutorial, and reference documentation.
Game engine design
Game Engine by TheCherno - Video series which walks through the development of the "Hazel" game engine based on industry experience at Electronic Arts. Covers logging, build automation with Premake, event system, window events, keyboard and mouse input, rendering and cameras, benchmarking, entity-component-system with EnTT, and some scripting. Some reservations: videos are usually long, the series is still ongoing, and switches to 2D towards the end.
Game Engine Architecture by Jason Gregory (2009) - Textbook on game engines by programmer at Naughty Dog. PDF available online.
ECS
ECS explanation by Tartarus - Video portion from game engine devlog which explains the entity-component-system pattern.
A Simple Entity Component System by Austin Morlan - Article with code explaining ECS in more detail and showing how to build a very simple one. Has videos of a demo of countless little cube entities falling at the same time.
EnTT-Pacman - Software project demonstrating the EnTT ECS framework to make a Pacman clone.
