Weekly Ship: Workshop recap, diving into more research. - 18F/noaa-nwm-pa GitHub Wiki

Good Tuesday to all of you, and a special welcome to those receiving the Weekly Ship for the first time!

Thanks again for your work at last Thursday’s workshop, especially those of you who showed up early in Tuscaloosa. Your insights are key to driving the next phase of our engagement:

You should have seen a few invites hit your calendar for Demo meetings, the first of which is next Monday. These are our routine demos, for us to show the work we’ve been able to accomplish and to hear your feedback.

And lastly, Peter will be out of office this week at a professional conference. With that, let’s update on where we are!

Last week

  • Held our onsite workshop meeting with you on Thursday
  • Continued research interviews and desk research
  • Shared materials with you on how we work, and where we are with this project
  • Worked out a plan with Trey and our team on how to sync up daily

Next up

  • Share outcomes from our workshop (see above)
  • Deep dives into NWM with Trey, Fred and Don
  • Continue research into operations, frameworks
  • Arrange further conversations about Agile procurement
  • Schedule recurring meetings and next onsite
  • Expand use of Trello and Slack for interteam communications

What we’re watching

  • Agile Product Ownership in a Nutshell by Henrik Kniberg. This is a 1-day course compressed into 15 minutes, describing the agile development process and how a Product Owner drives it forward.

By the numbers

  • Last week we billed a total of $23,443. There is currently $109,196 remaining on this project.
