If you are using DHCP the device will likely be at the same IP address as it was under the stock firmware. If you have trouble finding it you can try scanning for it using nmap or similar.
If you use windows it is recommended that you use putty for the ssh connection. I've heard reports that the installer menu does not work correctly from the windows command line.
Connect to the device via ssh, the username is installer and the password is install.
$ ssh [email protected]
The most important part of the installation is setting up the partitions. For the device to boot it needs to have /boot set up as a separate filesystem that meets these requirements:
- located on the first partition of the disk(s)
- either a regular partition or RAID1 array
- formatted as ext3
