Installation of the NaBot
Requirements
NaBot requires nothing more than NodeJs 3+ and npm to work correctly, all the dependencies are automatically installed by npm.
Installation
Firstly, fetch the code with :
git clone https://github.com/0xB4DC0FF33/NaBot.git
When the NaBot code is downloaded, move into the newly created directory. Once in there, you'll need to install all the dependencies, simply by running the command :
npm install
When the NaBot's dependencies are installed you need to configurate the bot.
Configuration
Discord app creation
In order to configurate the NaBot, you need to create a discord app to get a API token. If you already have an unused discord app, you can skip the few next steps. To create an app, you need to go to this address and follow these steps :
- Log in with YOUR OWN credentials
- Click on "New App" square :
- You can now give your bot the name you want, a nice avatar, and a short description, then click on the "Create app" button :
- Once your app is created, you need to create a bot user, simply by clicking "Create a bot user" button.
- Your bot is now created ! Just copy some codes that we'll use later, the bot's token and his client ID :
OAUTH2
If you want to interact with the bot, you need to invite him to one of your servers, to do this you need to authorize him to join.
-
Just copy this Url and replace [CLIENT_ID] by the bot's client id that you copied few seconds ago : https://discordapp.com/oauth2/authorize?client_id=[CLIENT_ID]&scope=bot&permissions=8
-
You should obtain a window like this :
Just choose the server on wich you want to invite your bot and click on "Authorize".
Last settings
Your bot is created and authorized to join your server but there's something more to do. In the code folder, you should see a config.json file. It should look like this :
{
"token": "MjAyMDI1MDc3NjE5ODE4NDk2.C7iuMA.YagunjKUtEybfSbwNeif_sNF5Jw",
"prefix": "$"
}
Open it and paste your bot's API token between the empty quotes. In this file you can also configure the bot's prefix for commands, that means the symbol to put before a command so that the bot can recognize a command, it can only be a single character. By default the prefix is set to '$'.
