Background

The Web Experience Toolkit community will be hosting a second CodeFest (following a successful gathering in July 2012). CodeFest 2.0 will take place August 8 to 9, 2013 at the University of Ottawa and with various regional satellite events. It is an open event for public servants, WET contributors and collaborating organizations.

Attend a Pre-Codefest Meetup

  • Register for a WET 101 session; this meetup will get you ready for participating in August. If you're new to the community or looking to brush up on your skills beforehand, this session is for you.
  • The Plugin Migration sessions are designed to prepare participant to contribute during Codefest. Topics convered include an overview of Javascript Event Programming (JEP), how to understand existing plugin code and how to identify code that need to be migrated.
  • The Javascript for WET session will help you get ready to code and debug JavaScript during CodeFest. It's aimed at beginner to intermediate level programmers and will cover JavaScript, jQuery and how these are used by WET.
  • The Implementing WET will give you a strong understanding of WET framework focusing on how to implement WET for your website. It's aimed at beginner to intermediate level web editors and will cover JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, and how these are used by WET.
  • The Jade session will be an introduction to working with JADE. It's aimed at beginner to intermediate level web editors and will cover JADE, and HTML and how these are used by WET.
