Snapshots - rotorflight/rotorflight GitHub Wiki

A snapshot is a frozen version of the codebase. They allow beta-testers to use a known version of Rotorflight, as selected by the developers.

Typically, snapshots should not be used any longer than a few weeks, until the next snapshot or release is out.

In Github, snapshots are available in Releases, but are marked as pre-release.

As snapshots are generated during the development cycle, there can be lots of changes in the software between any two snapshots. It is important NOT to mix components from different snapshots - usually they are not compatible.

Please find links to the snapshot pre-releases below:

Announcements about new snapshots can be found in the News.

WARNING! Flashing a snapshot will erase your configuration

Snapshots are generated with an option to erase the FC configuration during flashing. This is because the configuration format, the configuration options or their meaning, are still changing during the development. Leaving the old configuration in the FC would cause corruption, and usually just break everything.

Beta-testers MUST keep their configuration stored in a file, and loading it into the FC once flashed. This will help detecting any errors (showing in red in CLI) or other issues.
