If you are upgrading from an older version, make sure you read the release notes for the version you want to upgrade to (and any intermediate version). If you don't, you will possibly end up with a nonworking Poweradmin - though it unlikely data has been crippled.

Common steps:

• Backup your database (always)
• Backup old files, replace everything with content from downloaded file
• From backup restore only inc/config.inc.php
• Update database structure (if needed)
