Timeline:

May 13 : Initial Emails To Set-up Meetings

  • Email David Weinstein (GH) - We split our first meeting into 2. Can we meet with some of our people in NYC instead of bringing them to UVA, because Lauren and Taylor are moving to Richmond. We are going to NYC because we need to go to the sites we are going to work with and thus could meet with people here
  • Email participants for NYC , Appalshop , Chicago , and Cville Meeting (LT)
  • Submit Incubator Session for AMIA (See GitHub Wiki Document) (Rejected 👎 )

June: Determine Content For Site

  • Create database for films and additional content
  • If digitization is required, set this up. Make sure all films on their way to labs. Super 8 Kids (YFF) -> Sent to Lab (Metropolis - NYC) - May 10,2015
  • Determine taxonomy and folksonomies strategy
  • Get info to Jeremy about information, type of content will need on a community group page
  • Develop preliminary design documents.

  • Ben Vershbow: head of NYPL labs
  • Goal: Feedback on structuring metadata and type of metadata of interest to archivists and scholars. Discuss issues concerning orphan films. Discuss possible types of participation on the site. Second meeting: hour outside NYC
  • Deedee Halleck-Otisville stuff
  • Goal: Collect any additional materials for display on the site including hard drives with digital films. Ask about related papers and permissions. Ask about type of uses she would like on the site. Ask about reaching out to participants she has reconnected with. Ask about interviewing them for inclusion on the site. Third meeting:

  • review and incorporate feedback, ideas, materials from July meeting

Sept 15-17, 22-24: Appalshop (LT schedule)

  • Make sure all digitization projects needed for this phase are completed, in process (UVA funds will pay for this.)
  • Set up interviews if necessary. (Make sure we coordinate with the Appalshop Oral History project.)

October

  • review and incorporate feedback, ideas, materials from Sept. Kentucky visit, prepare materials as indicated below for core team meeting

November - SET DATE : Core Team Meeting

  • process 3 site visits and revisit ideas from May meeting at Yale and revise thinking about users, site architecture, generous interfaces, etc in response to information and materials gathered

  • Wireframes: incorporate feedback from meetings and other work and finalize those for Taylor to work from

Nov 9-12: AMIA (Check on application)

  • Incubator Session. Open session of 60 minutes, consisting of two presentations of ten minutes each that describe project, research, or collaboration initiatives in their developing or formative stages, and including at least forty minutes for audience feedback and discussion.
