Review Last Week of Trading

  • The goal is to improve by honest review and self reflection on performance during the last week of trading sessions.

Know Thy Self

  • It is important to be honest, the good, bad, and ugly.
  • Use a positive tone when answering these questions.
  • Do not take on a negative mindset, it will carry forward into your trading.

Answer these questions honestly with thought and detail, it will help you reflect on your thought processes, emotions, and help you improve.

  • What worked well this week?

  • What didn't work well this week?


When answering these questions reflect upon these details for a more thorough assessment of trading performance over the last week.

Types of trades that worked or didn't work?

  • Consider trade time frames, long, intermediate, short-term.
  • Did size of trade affect performance?

Was there a market you traded well or poorly in?

  • What aspect of the market stands out as related to trade performance?
    • Market conditions?
    • Asset leverage?
    • Time?

Is there a time of day or day of week that is correlated to trade performance?

  • Does time of day or day of week effect trading performance?

Do you enter trades too quickly?

  • What conditions led too the early trade entry?

Do you enter trades too late?

  • What conditions led to the late trade entry?

Do you take profits too soon?

  • What led to the early take profit execution?

Do you take profits too late?

  • What led to the late take profit execution?

Where your stop loss levels too tight or too loose?

  • What level of risk are you using for stops?

    • Does it align with your planned risk levels?
  • Are you comfortable with the level of risk?

    • Is your risk level within parameters of your plan?
  • What is the leverage on the asset traded?

    • Are you comfortable with this level of leverage?

What is the risk to reward ratio of your trades?

  • Do you find your trades have a minimum of $1 risked too $3 reward?
  • Is there a correlation between trade performance and risk to reward ratio?
  • Do you risk too much?
  • Do you risk too little?
  • Do you practice reducing risk by half with a losing trade or five consecutive winning trades?

Did you miss trade entries?

  • Did you see the trade entry in real-time?
  • What conditions caused you to miss the trade entry?
  • How do you feel about missing the trade?

Do you have a trading plan?

  • If no, why do you not have a trading plan?

    • What is needed to construct your trading plan?
  • If yes, did you deviate from your plan?

    • What conditions led to deviation from your plan?

Key Questions

  • Are there patterns of behavior reoccurring in your trading sessions?

    • Are these beneficial or detrimental to your goals?
  • If the pattern(s) are detrimental

    • What is the core of the problem?
    • Why does the problem manifest in during trading?
    • What time does the issue occur?
    • What condition does the issue occur?
    • What is a possible solution to the issue?
    • How can the solution be incorporated into trading?
  • If the pattern(s) are beneficial

    • How would you expand upon this behavior or pattern?

Tasks

  • Study the largest move of the week, if not traded, how could you have caught the move?
  • Study ICT Kill Zones for each day, specifically the open of each Kill Zone and London Close.
    • Note how price reacts at those times.
