GSIP 102 - Promoting WCS 2.0 module to core

Overview

Promote the WCS 2.0 module to core status

Proposed By

Andrea Aime

Assigned to Release

2.5.0

State

Choose one of: Under Discussion, In Progress, Completed, Rejected, Deferred

Motivation

WCS 2.0 is the most current OGC WCS version, and is a significant improvement over WCS 1.0/1.1 usability wise

Proposal

Move the WCS 2.0 module to core status, making it sit aside the WCS 1.0 and WCS 1.1 modules. No extra documentation is actually needed, the module does not require extra configuration steps compared to WCS 1.0 and 1.1, the protocol is documented in the OGC standard documents.

Graduation checklist:

The module has a handful of users (at least 3): yes, the module is in use by DLR, EUMETSAT and CMRE The module has a designated and active maintainer: Andrea Aime, Simone Giannecchini The module is considered stable by the majority of the PSC: this is what the PSC will have to vote on The module maintains a 40% test coverage: yes, the WCS 2.0 module has 72% test coverage The module has no IP violations: all the code has been written from scratch The module has a page in the user manual: not really at the moment, the existing pages just need a tweak to mention wcs 2.0 is available and links to the OGC documentation, there is no extra configuration need The maintainer has signed the GeoServer contributor Agreement: yes

Feedback

This section should contain feedback provided by PSC members who may have a problem with the proposal.
