The dxf module has been in community space for a long time, and some users showed interest in having automated nightly builds for it. It includes both a WFS Output Format to get dxf files from vector layers in uncompressed or compressed (zip) format, and a WPS PPIO (optional) to encode WPS process outputs in dxf. DXF is a very common format in CAD tools, so it is surely needed by many people. The module is quite stable and has a good code coverage (over 90%) and it is currently built as a nightly.

Promoting this module to extension would allow users to add DXF support to GeoServer more simply.

Move the dxf community module to extension.

There is already some documentation on the manual on how the extension works here module documentation .

This section should contain feedback provided by PSC members who may have a problem with the proposal.

No backwards compatibility issues should arise.
