Instructions - deuxmains/deux-mains-shopify GitHub Wiki
The following are instructions on how to edit & manage the 2015 Deux Mains website.
Metafields
If you can’t find how to edit an image, try clicking the … up top and going to Metafields App. This app uses Metafields2 in some instances where Shopify won’t let you upload an image, etc.
Files
To add images for Metafields, go to Settings > Files. Then just copy + paste the URL from there into Metafields2.
Team Members
The team members are set up as blog posts. This allows for automatic addition / removal in the “Artisans” list and so 1 can randomly appear on products.
Add
Create a new blog post, and be sure to select the Artisans dropdown right under the post. In addition to their name and story, also be sure to add:
- Hero image (4096 × 2304) by dropping an image into Featured Image on the right
- Metafields2: Small image 1 (2048 × 1152)
- Metafields2: Small image 2 (2048 × 1152)
- Metafields2: Headshot thumbnail (2048 × 1152)
- Metafields2: Job Title
- Metafields2: Short Quote
Remove / Edit
Click on that team member’s article under Blog Posts.
Sorting
The team members are sorted according to publish date, newest first. So to make a team member appear first, set their publish date to a more recent date than the others. To set this, click Set a specific publish date on their article in the top-right corner.
Home Page
Edit the top section here.
You can edit the products that appear on this page in the Frontpage collection.
Collections
Collections only allow you to use an image up top. To edit that, edit the featured image to the right of the collection you’re editing.
Products
Product Color Circles
You can edit the colored circles under a product by clicking Metafields2 App - Products up top. This should be HEX color codes, separated by a comma. You can get these from Photoshop, or by using an app like ColorSnapper.
You can also just erase these if you don’t want them to appear.
Artisan
You can’t edit which artisan appears on a product. The same artisan appears on every product, and the artisan changes automatically every day. Or, at least it theoretically changes every day; Shopify may do some caching and you might see one stick around for 2 days, etc.
