Getting Started - complexmemlab/wiki GitHub Wiki

Welcome to the Complex Memory Lab! Here's what to do to get started.

  1. Read the lab manual.
  2. Complete any required safety training.
    1. Log in to Learn@Work and complete the compliance profile training module. Based on your responses, additional training modules will be assigned to you. (Click here for recommended answers.)
      1. Click on the menu at the top left of the page, then click "Me". At the bottom of the menu on the left, click "My Compliance Profile Summary" to bring up your personalized training requirements.
      2. Human subjects training is conducted through CITI. Instructions to complete this training are in Learn@Work. Select "HRPO - Basic Human Subj. Ed. for Danforth IRB & Researchers in Select Danforth Depts/Schools", register and read the instructions by clicking "OVCR's CITI Quick Guide" in the overview, then click the link in the link that says "Click here for CITI!" to begin the training in the CITI platform. (See here if you are having trouble.) Send a copy of your training certificate to the lab manager.
      3. Complete HIPAA 101 training and send a copy of your training certificate to the lab manager.
      4. Complete MRI Level 2 safety training for WashU employees and the MR screening form.
        1. Once you have completed Level 2 training and the MR screen, contact Linda Hood ([email protected]) to schedule a safety tour.
        2. Review the instructions for accessing the MRI calendars and scheduling and releasing time at the MRI facility.
    2. Additional training modules may be assigned to you. Check your Learn@Work dashboard and complete any further training requirements.
  3. Give the lab manager a photo of yourself, a brief description of your interests, a fun fact about you, and your CV for the lab website. See examples here.
  4. Give the lab manager your Gmail address so that they may give you access to the lab calendars. If you do not have a Gmail account, it will be helpful to create one for this purpose.
  5. Ask the lab manager to add you to the Complex Memory Lab slack.
  6. Create a GitHub account and ask the lab manager to add you to the lab GitHub.
  7. Ask the lab manager to give you access to the CML Box folders.
  8. Create an account in MyIRB and ask the lab manager to add you to the appropriate protocol(s). You must indicate your level of education in your MyIRB profile before you can be added to an IRB protocol.
  9. Ask the lab manager to add you to the [email protected] inbox.
  10. The department intranet can be accessed either on campus or off campus with your WUSTL login - this may be a helpful source of information. You can also access the room scheduler and parking scheduler here. If you have not accessed the department intranet before, you will need to email David Archer at [email protected] to request access.
  11. We use Sona to recruit undergrad participants for our tasks for class credit. You should make a researcher account.
