White Paper for Zero Waste Protocol - adbongo/cleancredits GitHub Wiki

Zero Waste Protocol

I. Intentions of the project

Provide communities with an alternative to debt bond infrastructure and the resources needed to achieve net zero waste. Zero waste will eliminate the need for municipal landfills, create thriving economies and nurture the environment. To accomplish this mission, we will provide decentralized commodity exchange that will incentivize reduction of waste recycling, reuse, and composting.

Turn debt into ownership and as soon as someone wants to buy

Why are alternative currencies relevant to the reuse conversation?

Alternative currencies provide a way to reward individuals and businesses for diverting waste from the landfill and participating in reuse projects or networks.

Imagine: a restaurant no longer has to pay for trash pick-up for its food waste. Instead, they are given local currency/credits for giving this food waste to a compost company. The restaurant can spend this credit with other individuals or suppliers in the network.

Effects: reuse networks are created and local economies are strengthened.

HURDLES

Buy in from Suppliers

Technology complexity

Explaining that to tokenize product it allows to sell all of production in much larger market in and bring in redistributors that vendors don’t have a relationship with. Usually have to onboard or pay to help. Very much an open source way of doing things.

BE careful not to overpromise and sell as pilot program.

Problem this solves for Austin: Counting household waste diversion

II. Coin distribution plans

We need to develop a decentralized Exchange and Store That helps develop the local markets for reuse and Zero Waste. 12 Waste Categories to redeemable and swapable credits. Any credit that represents the following 12 market categories will be considered a “clean credit”.

Waste Categories:

Paper
Glass
Metal
Plastic
Yard Waste Soil
Ceramics
Wood
Textiles Reusables Putrescibles Chemicals Water

Gain Community Engagement: Release the plan to the community and revise based on feedback.

Kickstarter (Crowd sale): Sell the initial tokens based on the plan in the whitepaper. Setting a date where anyone can contribute to the project. At this time establishing a non-profit would be suggested.

Begin Executing Plan: The Social Enterprise will plan development and manage code for redeemable exchange token to keep things honest.

Social Enterprise will manage token system and verify inventory backed by tokens. Tokens will be created redeemable for 12 market categories of waste. Quantify how much producer has, verify it because tokens have to have something backing them because we can’t sell more tokens then there is compost. We certify inventory, the give or sell token on behalf that represent their inventory. This way we can sell to anyone (not just CC). This way we can make sure that everyone is playing by the rules. All composters would use the same compost token they would just get different amount.
Start with FOOD token, and add coins as we go. Modules: App interacts with these bots API SWAPBOT = Point of Sale (have auction variant) https://docs.google.com/document/d/1dx9y2JYOlVyhaTK5rhd7KKSBuW2ma9Wdft6_A9SIM94/edit?usp=sharing after: APIExchange = Token Slot redemption machine
Token Time (Calendar Format) Schedule based bookings not based on credit, based on delivery can accept Clean credits or any other thing in the ecosystem which leaves discretion to end user. We just have to figure out users, and solve their problem then plug in modules (easiest thing). “The Plan is way more important than the token. There is enough meat on the bones for this project, and you have enough credibility to do it.” -David Levine, Lets Talk Bitcoin Radio Host

VI. Technical description of the project

We provide an app that:

  1. crowd sources the funding for Zero Waste Projects
  2. allows the people of (City) to decide on those projects
  3. gives those users "credits" equal to their donation
  4. those Credits are usable at local businesses in (City) as currency
  5. at no risk to those businesses because they are given Fiat automatically at point of purchase via a third party crypto payment processor

This will:

  1. Allow (city) to meets its Zero Waste Goals
  2. Do so without an excessive budget and zero debt
  3. do so without extra salaries and bureaucratic resources
  4. incentivize the resource economy
  5. create jobs and businesses
  6. create good will in the city and community involvement
  7. be entertaining for the people of the city to watch on a video podcast that follows the progress of the project.

Crowdfunding

-Buy Credits with Fiat -Permission to Crowdfund and Advertise -Gala in Honor of Community -Digital Tokens spent as currency

Administer tokens, coordinate, quantify, then roll out 1 category at a time. Proof of Resource
