Departments

The INSTITUTION > Departments option lists the departments of the selected institution and the number of teachers in each department. A department may be an academic division of the institution that comprises a group of teachers and devoted to a particular academic discipline (for example a university department).

You can sort the list by the name of the department (default option) or by the number of teachers. To change the sorting criteria, click on the header of one of the two columns.

Edit

Institution administrators and system administrators can edit departments by clicking on the Edit icon (pencil) in the upper left corner of the Departments box.

When you click on Edit, two boxes appear:

• New department. The first box allows you to add a new department by filling in the following columns and then clicking on the Create department button:
  • Institution. Selection of the institution among all of the current country. By default, the current institution is selected.
  • Short name. Short name (acronym) of the department.
  • Full name. Full name of the department.
  • WWW. Complete web address of the department. If it does not exist, indicate the web address of the institution.
• Departments. The second box allows you to edit the existing departments. You can change any of the four previous columns.

To remove a department, click on the Remove icon (red cross). No confirmation is required. You can only remove a department if there are no teachers belonging to that department.
