List courses

The DEGREE > Courses option displays a list of all courses in the selected degree. A course is a subject or discipline. The list is sorted first by year or semester and second by course name.

Each of the rows of the list contains the following columns:

  • Institutional code: alphanumeric code of course in the institution (optional).
  • Year or semester: number from 1 to 12, or N.A. (not applicable) if you do not know the year or the course can be studied in several years/semesters.
  • Course: name of the course.
  • Teachers: number of teachers of the course.
  • Students: number of students enrolled in the course.
  • Status: New (pending review) or Active.

Edit courses

You can create new courses and edit existing courses by clicking on the Edit icon (pencil) in the upper left corner of the list of courses (DEGREE > Courses).

Create a new course

SWAD shows a box with a form to create a new course, with the following fields:

  • Institutional code: alphanumeric code of course in the institution (optional).
  • Year or semester: a selector with all years/semesters available.
  • Short name of the course.
  • Full name of the course.

When a user creates a new course, the course goes to status New, which means "pending review", although it is fully usable. System administrators can visit SYSTEM > Hierarchy > Pending to check for degrees with courses that are pending review.

Edit existing courses

Below the box to create a new course, a second box to edit courses is shown.

  • If you are logged as degree administrator, centre administrator, institution administrator or system administrator, you can:

    • edit codes, years/semesters and names
    • remove those courses that do not have any user by clicking on the Remove icon (red cross)
    • activate pending courses after fixing errors and checking them
  • If you are the creator of a course, and you are not logged as administrator, and the course is still in the New status, you can:

    • edit code, year and names
    • remove the course (if it do not have any user) by clicking on the Remove icon (red cross)

As a safety measure, in order to eliminate a course it is imperative that no users belong to that course, that is, the course does not have students or teachers. If you are logged in as a teacher or administrator, you can remove users from the course in USERS > Students and USERS > Teachers.
