Getting started:

1.WOOD PRODUCTION:

you will need to get your wood production up cause tools wear of quickly initially. Initially just kill mobs around spawn for items like stones, torches, apples. Killing rats gives wood. When you reach level 2 xp you can make stone sword for more effective monster hunt.

1.1 Tree:

from 9 bones ( yours or found bones) you can craft dirt. Then plant sapling ( can be crafted from 9 bones + dirt ) or found and you have source of infinite wood and tools.

2. DIG SKILL:

Initially your tools wear off very quickly. This improves with dig skill which is increased by mining, especially more valuable ores and coal. As you level up you can use better and better tools ( stone, steel, bronze, silver, mese, diamond, mithril). Also all tools last longer with larget dig levels.

3. HOW TO GET XP EFFECTIVELY:

to get more xp kill monsters farther away from spawn or deep down. This is more dangerous though, as monsters have better armor, more health and do more damage there. Each time you die you loose 10% of xp, dig skill and magic.

4. MAGIC:

you can invest your xp points into magic skill and mana points. At around 1000 magic skill mana regenerates sufficiently quickly for comfortable usage. Magic is great for healing spell, offensive fireball spell, slow spell, float spell or haste spell.
