There is plenty of friction in the current design of the ball cup design and I also think there is an issue with the tension springs. Roy provided me with a great image of the ball socket design for a professional delta machine and in the design you can see that they have two tension springs and they are mounted to the arms with teflon bar that gives more freedom of movement. It may make sense that we explore redesigning our arms to test out some of these design concepts.
