TMS@40_Washup - TMSMultiLab/TMSMultiLab GitHub Wiki
If TMSMultiLab is going to run another workshop like TMS@40...
What worked well
-
talks were brilliant
-
hackathon good for networking and discussion
-
different perspectives good to get views on
-
scale was good - both whole thing (~50) and groups (~6)
-
good to keep same groups for one day, then change the next day
-
Open Science as a theme is good - broader perspective
-
mix of both detailed methods and broader themes
What could be better
-
50-60 minutes per session were not enough; longer sessions and more switching of groups could be possible
-
transitions can be better
-
overall was exhausting
-
(a bit less booze), a lot more food
-
more gaps in schedule; longer poster sessions; less lunch-distraction!
-
more focused topics for hackathons
-
bring people together on the same topic / similar expertise
-
discussions too long for a 'response'
What other things could we do instead
-
practical workshops valuable - different brain areas, neuronavigation
-
(many demos are Vendor-specific); - topic/method-dependent
-
run a study during the workshop(!) - eg lab groups combine for 2 days, plan all year...
-
different labs demonstrating how TMS is done - videos (i.e. pre-reg) - electrodes, kit, how using...
-
different focus on targeted recruitment - more senior?
-
if more about learning from more established people / vs / advancing the field from ground-up
-
debates on a set topic, groups of 2 or 3, (forced to) argue for one side of a topic. part of the 'fun' aspect of workshop
