    Mother 3 is a story-rich role-playing game developed by Brownie Brown and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy Advance in 2006. It's the sequel to EarthBound and features many improvements to the overall experience, such as the removal of the hospital system in favor of freely available hot springs. Other features are introduced, like a Key Items tab and the Sound Battle system. The game is split into 8 chapters.

    The set has 132 achievements and 700 points.

    Notes & Advice

    • Pressing A to the beat of the song will start a combo, until 16 hits. Putting an enemy to sleep will play the heartbeat.
    • This guide does not cover the [Melody Master] subset. Please check out supersoup's amazing spreadsheet.
    • I will not cover in-depth battle strategies. However, you shouldn't underestimate your buffing tools like Defense Down and Offense Up.
    • The back of Wess's house has an unlimited supply of Thunder Bombs that gets restocked when you go 2 rooms away.
    • The Battle Memory is an item that tracks every enemy you fight, including if you saw the alternative sprite or not.
    • The Battle Memory is obtained in chapter 2, but enemies are still tracked before that.
    • As a general rule of thumb, enemies that have "forced" encounters cannot be flipped with Duster's Siren Beetle. Be warned that, rarely, some forced enemies can be fought normally, and so are flippable.
    • Bosses show their alt sprites when the fight progresses.
    • Not every enemy has an alternative sprite.
    • I use the terms "back sprite" and "alt sprite" interchangeably, they both refer to the secondary sprite in the Battle Memory.
    • Whenever I specify (front), it means you'll get the back sprite later in the game (for convenience).
    • You have to get green swirls (approach from behind) for the alternative sprite when you don't have Duster or the Made-You-Look item (it's very jank and annoying). When you're overleveled enough, enemies will start running away from you which makes it very easy. This is how you do it before enemies run away from you:

    An uncommon enemy will appear where Fuel's house used to be. Do not run into it or it will disappear. It has 36 HP and so much defense your attacks deal 1 damage. Learn the enemy's heartbeat and defeat it before it gets blown away by the wind for a staggering 1000 XP.

    You can get the alt sprite later, but in my opinion it's really easy to get so I'd recommend to get it right now. It's even easier in a room with 2 of them near each other.

    Wess will tell you to grab your Thief Tools in the basement.

    You don't have Duster anymore, so you have to do the old fashioned green swirl method.

    You may notice an achievement appear in the corner, don't worry about it now.

    Fassad will tell you to deliver four Happy Boxes to the residents, but you only need to deliver three. You may save right after the speech since the timer starts as soon as you leave the room.
