TuxFamily hosting - OpenDungeons/OpenDungeons GitHub Wiki

Since June 2015, the free software-focusing hosting association TuxFamily (TF) provide us with some server space to host our binaries (for free).

Since the code and website are hosted by GitHub, and the forum by FreeGameDev, we can now leave SourceForge which is known to have become an undesirable partner of free software projects. Apart from download repositories, TuxFamily provides many services that we did not subscribe to yet; they are listed in the "Available services" section.

Administration panel

If you registered on TF and were added as a contributor to the OpenDungeons project there, you should have access to the administration panel (with various levels of rights depending on the ACL). Go to https://panel.tuxfamily.org to login (or use the login widget on the main page).

Download repository

For details, please refer to the official documentation.

  • Repository: http://download.tuxfamily.org/opendungeons or alternatively ftp://download.tuxfamily.org/opendungeons
The files are downloaded directly from the FTP server, without loading screens or advertising. The repository listing in itself is not that fancy, but we just need to provide direct download links ;-)
The repository can currently hold 2 GB of data, but we can probably get an extension if need be by asking the moderators.

  • Statistics: http://stats.download.tuxfamily.org/opendungeons
TF provides detailed statistics about our download repository, so that we can rejoice when seeing that actual people download our game.

  • Upload: Connect to ftp.tuxfamily.org with your favourite FTP client and your TuxFamily credentials (provided you have been granted write access to the FTP server by project maintainers).
Then simply drag and drop the files you want to upload in the corresponding folders.
Please remember to check before uploading that we are not too close to the size limit of the repository. This can be done through the TF panel.

Available services

The following are services that TF can provide us as a free software project:

  • Websites
  • MySQL or PostgreSQL databases
  • Git, Mercurial, SVN or CVS repositories
  • Mailing lists
  • Mail domains
  • Download repositories (we currently have one)
  • Domain names
  • Cron jobs

Moreover, TF also proposes hosting of multiplayer game servers, provided the games are officially packaged in Debian, or a third-party Debian package is provided for their hosting VMs.
