I got a Laptop in 7th Sep 2020. It is Samsung Series 3 Notebook NP355V5C-S06IN. 4GB RAM, 1TB Storage, AMD Vision A6-4400 Dual Core. Full Specs, CPU-Z.

Some specs:

  • AMD A6-4400M - more

  • Graphics

    • 512MB ATI AMD Radeon HD 7520G + 7670M Dual Graphics

    • 1024MB ATI AMD Radeon HD 7670M

  • QMLE4 LA-8863P BA59-03567A Motherboard

  • 2x USB 2.0, 2x USB 3.0, VGA, HDMI, SD Card Slot, RJ45, Audio Jack and Microphone Jack

  • 2.5in SATA, SATA DVD port, 2x DDR3 SODIMM slots

I don’t know about PC when I bought this. It came with Ubuntu 18.04. I learnt about how to make bootable USB. And installed Linux Mint 20, since it is <2.0GiB. I have 2GiB per day Internet plan. I don’t have a Ethernet or WIFI. I used my Android Smartphone HotSpot. At this time I don’t know that I can download files with Resume option that will download the file from where it stopped before. I used USB Stick Writer from Ubuntu which came pre-installed.

After using Linux Mint some days, I am became mad with it, since I am new to PC. I don’t know anything about PC.

At this time I wanted to install Windows. I thought only torrent files can be used to download files partially and can be resumed. I got a Windows 7 SP1 genuine copy torrent file. Downloaded it. Why I took Windows 7 is because I only has 4GB USB Stick. I don’t know that Lite versions are available that time.

Now comes the real problem. I have to write to USB. For installing WoeUSB, I have to update my LinuxMint to latest packages. But I don’t want to do this because of Internet issues and it will erased after I install Windows!. Finally I found windows2usb bash script with all dependencies in AppImage format. Finally, I made my Windows 7 bootable and installed successfully. A strange thing about this is, it won’t boot until I choose it from boot menu by pressing bootkey at every boot.(Now I came to know that I have to clean install as said in here windows with diskpart clean). Someone in YouTube said that I have to use MBR for Windows 7(which is wrong for 64bit system), and I have done like that(MBR).

Since I don’t know about PC, I don’t know about drivers and stuff in Windows. I don’t have WLAN driver. I don’t know that I have to install it. Without Internet what we can do? I have searched many things like Google and YouTube. Finally I have used USB Tethering from my Smartphone. Again because of Internet issues I don’t have luck with Driver Installation applications. Then I used Driver Talent pro and installed only what I need first.

After some days of usage I am comfortable with it somewhat. Now, I want to dual boot it with Linux Mint. This is another big deal for me. I learnt this from many guides, because I didn’t clean installed Windows 7, it doesn’t showed WindowsBootManager in LinuxInstaller. GRUB not came with scary manual partitioning as said in here (because I am not clean installed Windows 7 as said above). I am very disappointed. After searching some other things, I found that I can install Windows 7 in GPT. Even after this too, I have to select it on every boot (Maybe my Laptop is not compatible with Windows 7 bootloader). This time I installed it with GPT. With GPT clean install too Windows 7 is not booting until I select it by tapping bootkey at every boot(see here, here). Now Linux Installer showed me WindowsBootManager in installation. With this issue I had successfully Dual booted with Linux Mint.

Now, I want to install Windows 10. My barrier this time is my USB Stick, which is only 4GB(3.7GiB). Windows 10 iso files will not fit in this (I don’t about lite versions at this point). I found a guide that I can able to clean install a windows version from another Windows version with Advanced Restart Menu as said in here. The crazy thing here is Display Driver is not working🥺. Without it, I can’t enjoy videos and decrease brightness and overall performance will suck. I returned to Windows 7.

This time I want to know about how to know the exact OS that came pre-installed by OEM. My laptop doesn’t have back sticker. I found that from Windows 8 onwards, product-key is embedded in BIOS. I found this here which reveals the Windows version to install. Now I installed Windows 8.1 and it is activated automatically after I have connected to Internet. But here is the the problem. In Windows 8 too, Display driver is not functioning, see here. I don’t know why OEM doesn’t provide the drivers for Windows 8 which came pre-installed, but they have given those for Windows 7 and XP🤬 see here. Finally, I got rid of this shit and relaxed with Windows 7 and Linux Mint dual boot.

Now, I want to update Windows 7. You know I have Internet issues, so I can’t update again and again after every install (When trying other os, I will clear windows 7, that’s why again and again install). Without updates, there are so many bugs saying this .dll not found blah. I found a guide for this here. With this I can able to update offline until I have that files.

On 8th May 2022, my Laptop refused to turn on. I took it to Laptop Service Center and they estimated the repair at ₹3,500/- INR. I decided not to do it, since it already has many issues that may make more troublesome in future.

After a few months, around November I tried turn ON Laptop by cleaning the RAM with eraser. Magically it worked!

In the 1st week of June, I am learning disassembly and assembly of PCs and tried the same by using the YouTube video at here. After repeating the same many times, USB 2.0 ports cable got damaged😢. But, it is great to know the components inside the Laptop, like SATA 2.5 in, DDR3 SODIMM RAMs, Wireless NIC, SATA port for DVD writer, CPU Fan, etc.,

On 5th June 2023, I want to install Windows 8.1 and troubleshoot display driver issue. With my previous experience I searched driver with VID and PID in Internet instead of relying on Driver apps and official AMD site. Luckily, I found the working driver in first shot here.

On 7th March 2024, I updated the RAM from 4GB to 6GB. Let’s see how Laptop works now. Here is the new probe.

On 26th March, I got a MacBook Pro 13" Early 2015 Laptop. I am searching for it’s reviews and found a reddit post at here. I don’t know that we can install Windows on Intel macs. I found that we can use "Bootcamp" application as stated in that reddit.

Once you install, you have to update bootcamp software that is installed in Windows by searching "Apple Software Update". Also, to get natural scrolling like in macOS, we have to use command as stated in here.

To activate Windows and Office, I used MAS.
