Different kinds of log files

HDT Log Files

When reporting an issue it is sometimes useful to upload log or configuration files to help diagnose the problem. Pasting such files directly into an issue comment takes up a lot of space and also makes it difficult to read.

When asked to provide Hearthstone Deck Tracker log files, use the following steps:

  • Try and replicate the issue you are having

  • Default log file location (installed version): %appdata%\HearthstoneDeckTracker\Logs, if there aren't any logs continue with the next steps.

  • Then go to options

HDT Options

  • Enable Advanced options at the bottom of the settings menu

HDT Advanced Options

  • Click Settings then Open Data Folder

HDT Data Folder

  • In the newly opened explorer window open the Logs folder

  • Attach the most recent log file hdt_log.txt to your Github issue

HDT crash logs

  • Are there any crash logs in <HDT directory>\Crash reports (where <HDT directory> is the directory containing HearthstoneDeckTracker.exe)? Attach the ones created at the time your issue occurred.

Note: The directory for an installer-based HDT is at %appdata%\..\Local\HearthstoneDeckTracker (paste that in a RUN box (Win+R)) and the folder is app-x.x.x (choose the latest version).

Windows log files

  • Open the windows event viewer (Press Windows key + R, input eventvwr and confirm)
  • Go to windows log > application
  • Filter by the sources Application Error and .NET Runtime
  • Copy the details of the entries created at the time your issue occured

Setup log files

  • %localappdata%\SquirrelTemp\SquirrelSetup.log
  • %localappdata%\HearthstoneDeckTracker\SquirrelSetup.log
