Puzzle 1: Computer Login Password - Headlesser/PasswordsPleasev2 GitHub Wiki
Planned Progression
- Start off with computer in line of sight. Computer is on, phone is off
- Screen should have icon(s) flashing to draw attention
- Approach the desk, there is writing on the papers to the side and sticky note
- Sticky note should vaguely state that there is a new password written down in the form of a reminder (hinting that they gave their previous password to someone they didn't want to have access to the computer anymore)
- Cycle between papers and entering passwords scribbled out.
- There should be written thoughts about some passwords being "Too weak", rejected, or too obvious
- When password is correctly entered, change screen to desktop.
- present option to access email and digital sticky notes (maybe more if we can create the assets)
Possible Issues
- Players not being able to figure out the password or get bored trying to find the correct one
- Players finding the password too easily
- Players not realizing they need to access the computer at the beginning
- Players not understanding what they are trying to do overall (without having a giant wall of text that holds their hand from the beginning)
Correct Password & Hints
Correct answer:
- Rose
List of Hints:
- Wow! I can't believe Karen and mom have the same middle name! I guess they both DO look like Roses.
- I really need to get a notebook to write all my passwords in instead of these random pieces of paper...
- Password Hint: Relative Plant
- The password is the victim's mother's middle name.
Text Monologues
- Reach the PC, monologue to self ("Hm. Their computer has a password to it. It would be hard to guess without some sort of clue. Unfortunate for this poor sap they wrote it down and stuck it right on their monitor...")
- Upon entering 'Rose' into the PC, monologue to self ("That was too easy! While the clue was reasonable, it's never a good idea to write your password down, especially in a place that's right out in the open. Writing it down on paper defeats the entire purpose of having a clue anyway.")
- Upon the security question screen appearing, aka the same trigger as above ("The second screen has turned on and there's... three security questions?! That's three times the work I have to do! Well, considering this person's habits, maybe they left some more clues to the answers laying about their office...")
