Breaking your Oaths
Once you are a Knight Radiant you must uphold your oaths or you will lose access to your powers. The following actions will render you an oathbreaker, gaining the advancement Broken Oaths, and killing your radiant spren:
-
Killing Villagers
-
Killing the wandering trader
-
Writing in chat:
I renounce my oaths
Exceptions
-
The Orders of Elsecallers and Lightweavers allows for a more flexible moral code so there is no acction that causes broken oaths as one. Only renouncing to your oaths will cause the expulsion of the order.
-
The Order of Skybreakers can break their oaths in an additional way. Before achieving their Third Oath, also known as the Ideal of Dedication, a Skybreaker must choose a code by which to live. Breaking this code, whether before or after committing to follow it, will cause your oaths to be broken. You can find the available codes and how to break them on the Skybreakers page.
Consequences
Breaking your oaths has increasing consequences depending on which Ideal you had reached on your journey as a Knight Radiant. When Knights Radiant break their oaths, they lose access to the surges of their Order regardless of the Ideal they had reached. If you are at least of the Third Ideal, your spren will fall near you in the form of a dead Shardblade. Unlike before, this Shardblade cannot be summoned unless certain steps are taken (see Unoathed). At last Radiants who have reached the Fourth Ideal will also drop the helm of their Shardplate, equipping the helmet will automatically equip the full armor.
Redemption
Once you have broken the oaths of one of the orders you cannont rejoin said order ever again, But you may join any other of the Radiants Orders as long as you haven't broken their oaths in the past. Or maybe you prefer to not be shackle by the oaths of the radiant and use your shards freely as an (Unoathed.
