• Interacts with the existing GTA universe in a fan-fic non-canon way (i.e. Gurning Chimps and Kent Paul exist in our universe).
• Geographically, Nothing outside the Mancunian Way (though the Blackburn Rave Prologue may be to be a North Yankton style cut-out)

Accepted conceits

• This isn't historically accurate. It's about the vibe and the folklore.
• As attributed to Wilson (via 24hr Party People) "print the myth"
• Many characters are amalgamations, whilst Terry Walker is obviously based on Tony Wilson, it's also Rob Grettan, Alan Erasmus, Richard Madeley. Similarly the journalist is a mixture of Paul Madley, Jon Robb, Terry Christian, Kevin Cummings and others.
• Similarly R* made The Gurnning Chimps an amalgamation of Stone Rose and Happy Mondays, and they remain ones.
• Some events are out of order
• • The Blackburn Raves were 89-90, but which time the Hac was well established.
• • Manto didn't open until after the Second Summer of Love.
• • Strangeways Riots were 1990, well after the Hac was established.
• To give us an antagonist, Anderson has become a general bad cop, a grotesque characture of an already unpleasnat man. Virtually all of the story around him is fiction and just there for the benefit of a storyline.
• The gangs of Gunchester were very real but the main Chatsworth Gang are fictional
