Level Arranging Metroid (2) Program

Welcome to the LAMP Wiki, your comprehensive guide to the open-source tool designed for editing and hacking Metroid II: Return of Samus. From creating new projects to compiling your finished ROM hack, this documentation will guide you through using LAMP effectively.

If, instead, you are interested in the inner workings of Metroid II: Return of Samus, you should read its Wiki page on Metroid Construction.

About LAMP

LAMP was initiated in April 2022 by ConConner due to the lack of a fully functioning editor for the 1991 GameBoy game, Metroid II: Return of Samus. Its development aims to merge and enhance features from the previous editors, M2Edit (2004) and ROSE (2017), providing a robust toolset for modifying almost every aspect of the game.

Currently LAMP is still being developed and missing some features, yet still usable to create a full ROMhack of the game! The contents in this Wiki will be primarily about the nightly release.
The nightly releases reflect the latest state of the source code, getting build automatically, and include features, which are currently not available in the stable release.

Features

  • Tilesets and Metatiles: View and define tilesets along with their metatile arrangements.
  • Graphics Editing: Modify graphics and metatile arrangements to customize visuals.
